According to the statistics analysis by the motors traders ‘ association of Singapore declair that by october sale was running 25% lower than the first 10 months of last year at 76,408 units.In 10M09 , Toyota Motors , Lexus brand , the overall market also got off to poor start with a only 25% share of new consumer vehicale registration is done. And that time after toyota Honda motors place the second with 14% of market share , third is hundai with 10.3% market share (Singapore Autos Report Q1 2010, 2010). There are so many up and downs in atomobiles industries . Due to these changes in automobile industry market, there is a need to identify and find out the reason for change of the consumer purchasing pattern . And this study aims to conclude the infuencing factor of consumer decion while buying a car in a age gruop of 25 to 50 in the city of China town. For this project we are totaly concentrated on the consumer behavior and the focus group of the people. And i was trying to find out the what consumer wants the specific quality in their car (Srivastava). One of the most leading industries in Singapore is Automobile industries. It is one of the leading and most stylish in Asia and in whole world which provides an innovative and latest technology not only in country but also to the global market. Many of the biggest and large automobile industries are depend on the Singapore automobile industries (Jackman, 2010). Singapore market offers opportunities in the automobile company, which continue to grow. Recent investment reflects the importance of Singapore as a major manufacturing base, especially for the production of higher value added engineering system. Many multinational corporations set up international offices for source high quality and competitively proved automotive parts. They all have established headquarters in Singapore to coordinate manufacturing and distribution operation for region (Singapore, 2008) The automobile industries in Singapore has shown enormous potential for intensification from last few years and its also helped in strengthening the countrys trade dealings with America and Europe (Jackman, 2010). It depends upon the choice of customer what they want to buy and what they dont want to buy. This influences us to analyze better on consumer decision making process. Its necessary to know how the consumer is making the decision at time of purchasing the product. Every person has its own choices, ideas, psychology for buying a product. When I came to know about the project on consumer buying behavior I found it very interesting achievement for me as guided by my professor I got the success to complete the given task. (Consumer Buying Behavior) Why customers buy products? As we all know that a consumer buy product to satisfy the needs and his desire .some of its needs are necessary for our daily routine life and some needs are based on the customer demand. For buying a car a customer needs influences about the car. There are two types of car:- Internal influences External influences I have include both type of influences in my survey Following are the sources where a consumer gets information: Personal sources-family, friends, neighbors etc. Commercial sources: advertising; salespeople; retailers; dealers; packaging; point-of-sale displays. Public sources: newspapers, radio, television, consumer organizations; specialist magazines Experiential sources: handling, examining, using the produce How do consumers buy? This model is used for making marketing decision. It used in buying process rather than for purchasing. In first step the consumer identifies the requirement of needs. At this step consumer analyze that we should buy a car or not. After this the searching of getting information starts. A consumer more influence buy the word of mouth coming out rather than other sources like advertising, internet etc. After this its important that how does the customer use the information obtained. This is an important aspect that how a consumer analyze the information received. High-involvement purchases include those involving high expenditure or personal risk for example a car. Why should a marketer need to understand the customer evaluation process? The answer lies in the kind of information that the marketing team needs to provide consumer in different buying situations. In high-involvement decisions, the marketer needs to provide a good deal of information about the positive consequences of buying. The sales force may need to stress the important attributes of the product, the advantages compared with the competition; and maybe even encourage â€Å"trial† or â€Å"sampling† of the product in the hope of securing the sale. Post-purchase evaluation Cognitive Dissonance This is a final target of consumer post-purchase evaluation of the decision. A consumer needs to take experience of all its concern after making a decision. This is known as â€Å"cognitive dissonance†. For managing the job of post purchase it is compulsory for the marketing team to influence the maximum potential consumer that the product will satisfy its needs. After the purchase of product the consumer should encourage that it had made a correct decision. According to the above mentioned table and my survey first main focus of the consumer is the brand image after that price comes and third sale -service comes. In china consumers are basically focusing on luxury cars because brand image is most important for buying a car. I want to know about the customer perception about car, after analyzing the table we conclude that for purchasing a car most of customers focuses on first Brand image second Price and third on after sale services. In china town city customer likes to spend their money on luxury car because brand image is most important for buying a car. Focus Group: In focus groups, a moderator uses a scripted series of questions or topics to lead a discussion among a group of people. These sessions take place at neutral locations, usually at facilities with videotaping equipment and an observation room with one-way mirrors. A focus group usually lasts one to two hours, and it takes at least three groups to get balanced results. Focus group is also called as group discussion or group interview we could say that interaction between the one or more respondent and one or more researchers for collecting the research data (Focus Groups) .Focus group is generally talks about the * How group of people talks about their interest. * motivate new ideas * exploratory research How to conduct a focus group? For conducting a focus group there are few steps which we have to follow for achieving accurate and satisfactory results. 1. Define Purpose: Defining purpose means for starting a project first we need to understand why we are doing this project. To find out what is thinking of people? And why do we want to know that? If we able to understand these three question it will make our prices easier to go to next step. We need to be clear about our project. Purpose of my project is that I want to know about the consumer buying behavior and at the time of purchasing a car how customer make purchasing decisions? 2. Establish timelines: A focus group cannot be generating overnight. We should start planning for each and every stage of Process. For our project we gather the information about the Singapore car industries. We develop the questionnaire, and fixed the deadline for that. 3. Invite the participant : In my project I have develop 15 questions. And I have done 100 questionnaires. 4. Create questionnaire and select location: I have design 15 question. Some are the personal questions and some are questions related to a car. And for our survey I had chosen Singapore. Postal Questionnaire Questionnaire is a list of written questions, there are two types of questionnaire, first were respondent could asked to complete the question with researcher not present, these types of questionnaire is called as postal questionnaire. And secondly respondent could asked to complete question with research present is called as structured interview (Sociological Research Skills). Questionnaires are restricted two types: Close ended: In this type researcher provides a list of suitable response (Sociological Research Skills). Open ended: in this type researcher not provide any suitable list of response to the response dent .respondent asked to write the answer in their own way (Sociological ResearchSkills). For my project I am using postal questionnaire because I am a student and I am not able to go each and every places of Singapore. One of the most reliable methods of research is postal questionnaire, because it is very easy for me to standardize and analyze the questions. Each respondent answered exactly same question. There are 100 of automobiles dealers in singapore who provides the aggressive and superior services to owners of car. Conclusion and Recommendations Since Singapore Automobile industry market is continuously in the prowl of swelling as a biggest car manufacturer, people are like to buy car as there is growth of income of normal people as well as preferences of consumer. It is very important for the car dealer or car manufacturer to understand the different feature affecting the amount in car buying behavior. According to finding and analysis of data about the consumer satisfaction of showroom its rated as 3. its consist the information provided by dealer or sales person ; service after sale, before buying allow for test drive, providing extra premium changes; and latest technology are mostly affecting the car procuring behavior. People are most conscious about spot information which is given by dealer and sales person who serves according to needs and want of the each and every customer. Sales after services, safety, brand image and reasonable price are one of the important factors for consumer. Factor two contain family needs wh ich includes income level, brand image, insurance facility, credit card acceptance is also affects the customer car procuring decisions. Factor three contains location of car dealer shop, looks availability of services provided by car dealer. Overall various internal and external factors like extra facilities , infrastructure of showroom ,location of showroom, various information provided by car dealer , promotions and media , features of car , latest technology, its all contributing in making car buying behavior of costumer. Love and Mental Health in Cosi by Louis Nowra Essay

Cosi is a play written by Louis Nowra. I will be using two speeches chosen from the play to explain how the playwright uses emotive language to show the characters thoughts, views and feelings about issues in the play. The two speeches I will be focusing on are; Act 2 Scene 2 This is a conversation between Lewis and Lucy about their views on love and Lucy’s infertility. And. Act 1 Scene 4 Which is a conversation between Lewis, Nick and Henry about the Vietnamese war. The themes I have chosen are love and mental health. Love in Cosi is portrayed through the characters different views on the subject. Some believe that falling in love with a faithful partner is important; others think love is pointless and is only based on sexual relations rather than emotional connections. You can clearly see these differences in views when looking at the characters attitudes towards love in the play. The playwright has used speeches made by the characters infused with emotive language to portray these thoughts, feelings and views. The main speech I am going to be focusing on is the one made by Lucy in Act 2 scene 2, about her infidelity and what she believes to be more important about love. This conversation between Lucy and Lewis shows both their opinions on love, and what it means to be in a relationship. â€Å"How to understand how capitalism exploits the working class is important. How to stop the war in Vietnam is important. How to make a piece of theatre meaningful; and intelligent†¦. is important. After bread, a shelter, equality, health, procreation, money comes maybe love. Love is an emotional indulgence for the privileged few. † The emotive language that is used in this quote shows Lucy’s anger and frustration with Lewis for not thinking the same way she does. She doesn’t value love more than other people’s happiness and seems disappointed that Lewis does. She also believes that love is only valued by those who exploit the working class. The emotive language used such as starving masses; this may be used to make us feel sympathy for what she thinks is her cause. The use of the word fuck is to show just how angry Lucy is. Also the way she constantly uses the word important shows that what she is talking about is something she feels strongly about. Lewis reply to her rant with one short, but meaningful quote. The way in which it is worded makes you feel that it is oozing with emotion. â€Å"Without love the world wouldn’t mean much† By using the words â€Å"the world wouldn’t mean much† its shows he would think the world and life would be less meaningful if people didn’t fall in love or believe in love. He seems to believe that love can conquer all. Mental illness is another theme that Louis Nowra explores in Cosi, the way in which he does it leave us thinking who are actually the mad ones in this play the sane or the insane. I will be focusing on Act 1 Scene 4 the speech made by Henry about his father’s nobility in the Vietnam War. For someone who is classified mentally insane he has extremely coherent views about what he believes is right and wrong. The emotive language used in this speech and the increase in henrys stutter shows the amount of anger he feels towards the subject and the betrayal he feels to find out that nick and Lewis support the Vietnamese in a war against their own country. [Banging chair on the floor] â€Å"Traitors! Traitors! Traitors! † This action of banging the chair on the floor and the use of emotive language in the quote made is used to show henrys anger but the use of the word traitors could also be used to stir the same sense and feeling of anger in the reader. My ffffather fought in the war for you. For you and ffffor me. He was a ggggreat man. You are traitors† The increase of henrys stutter is also used to show the raging anger he feels about nick and Lewis supporting the Vietnamese. Also the use of the emotive language â€Å"for you and ffffor me† could be used to make us feel like he is speaking to us as well instead of this particular quote being directed only at the charact ers in the play. â€Å"†¦.. I do not work with traitors. Australia is at war against communists and you†¦ you stab my father in the back† This quote is used to show henrys disappointment with nick and lewis for supporting the Vietnamese instead of their home, their country. Also to show the betrayal he feels on his father’s behalf for their support to the Vietnamese. Henry is the exact opposite to nick. Although nick is classified as sane his views on this subject seem to be quite insane. Nick doesn’t seem to be able to understand why henry feels hurt that he and Lewis are supporting the Vietnamese. Henry: â€Å"you ssssupport the cccommunists† Nick: â€Å"yes†Ã‚  Henry: â€Å"in Vietnam? † Nick: â€Å"sure† Henry â€Å"you give money to North Vietnam? † Nick: â€Å"for medical supplies† Henry: â€Å"to the enemies? † Nick: â€Å"yeh† You could say this is emotive language because although the answers he gives henry are short and swift. They hold the conviction that what he is saying is right. It is his belief that he needs to support the Vietnamese against Australia. â€Å"Not only are they nuts, but there right wing nuts† This quote give the feeling that nick feels that it’s wrong that their mentally insane but the fact that they are â€Å"right wing nuts† makes it a million times worse. Although nick is meant to have this sympathetic left wing idealism, he doesn’t seem all that sympathetic towards henry and his views about the Vietnamese war. Emotive language in the play is used to stir emotions in the reader as well as help explain the characters feelings towards a situation. The playwright used emotive language to portray the characters thoughts, feeling and views. Not only about these subjects but also the fact that this play also leaves us to question who are actually the insane ones.

Knight of Faith vs Overman

For my final research paper, I have chosen to compare and contrast Friedrich Nietzsche’s overman with Soren Kierkegaard’s knight of faith As if a coroner were standing over a body, holding a cold hand in one and looking at his chain watch in the other, I hear Nietzsche say: God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it? – Nietzsche, the Gay Science, Section 125 As if conversing with Nietzsche I hear the response of Kierkegaard to be, God will never die, only faith in Him can, and has died, in you Nietzsche. To which Kierkegaard would add, but that’s only my perspective. Kierkegaard and Nietzsche each have views that respond to the issue of faith and the life lived by the individual. Kierkegaard’s view is called the knight of faith and Nietzsche’s called overman. The knight of faith is an individual who has placed complete faith in himself and in God. Kierkegaard argues that the knight of faith is the paradox, is the individual, absolutely nothing but the individual, without connections or pretensions. The knight of faith is the individual who is able to gracefully embrace life. Most people live dejectedly in worldly sorrow and joy; they are the ones who sit along the wall and do not join in the dance. The knights of infinity are dancers and possess elevation. They make the movements upward, and fall down again; and this too is no mean pastime, nor ungraceful to behold. But whenever they fall down they are not able at once to assume the posture, they vacillate an instant, and this vacillation shows that after all they are strangers in the world. This is more or less strikingly evident in proportion to the art they possess, but even the most artistic knights cannot altogether conceal this vacillation. One need not look at them when they are up in the air, but only the instant they touch or have touched the ground–then one recognizes them. But to be able to fall down in such a way that the same second it looks as if one were standing and walking, to transform the leap of life into a walk, absolutely to express the sublime in the pedestrian–that only the knight of faith can do–and this is the one and only prodigy. – Soren Kierkegaard, Fear and Trembling, Nietzsche’s overman can be described as; overman has his own self, both his higher and lower natures, neither repressed. He has this, his world, to which he is faithful. He has the love of this life, in this world, without the illusions that this world is inferior. And he has his reflective mind that reinforces these ideas. I believe that Nietzsche would claim his perspective to better because his claim focuses on this world, the one known to exist, whereas Kierkegaard’s claim implies a next life. Nietzsche would argue that Kierkegaard’s claim has two assumptions, 1) that there may or may not be an after life, and 2) that it is superior to this life. I like Nietzsche’s view of overman; overman is strength incarnate, reveling in the beauties of this life while satisfying his desires, both worldly and not. But it begs me to ask the question, as long as the anticipation of the next life doesn't interfere with the enjoyment of this one, can an overman not love this life and carry this love so far to greatly anticipate the next life as possibly even more beautiful than this one? I would further like to challenge Nietzsche on the topic of morals, and his overman. Since there is no objective truth, there are no objective morals or values. One becomes free to create their own and this is precisely what overman does. Overman has his own set of morals and values. Unless the morals one lives by here on earth are different than those they live by in Heaven, I don't see a problem. And even then I don't see a problem, unless one desires Heaven with its values inferior to their own. If one enjoys the way they live here and Heaven takes those enjoyments and morals away, why would one desire to live in Heaven at all? Nietzsche professes that God is dead, meaning the very idea of God's salvation is no longer held in the world's belief. If this is so, then doesn't it imply that having religious faith is indeed a subjective act, if not the highest possible subjective act? The fewer people who truly believe only means that the objective uncertainty is greater. Since objective uncertainty is at a maximum, so too must be the will to believe and the passion by which to believe. If this does not require also the maximum amount of courage, I don't know what does. I also like Kierkegaard’s view, but his view as well again begs me to ask questions. Kierkegaard’s knight of faith is self sacrificing. Christianity's absurdity makes it harder to have faith than to not. It almost seems that faith is a response to the fear of being wrong about the afterlife. Better to believe in just case than not believe and burn for it. The very degree of doubt makes belief seem desperate. But strong God fearing people should not feel such apprehension for the next life. Now don't get me wrong, they shouldn't depend on the next life for salvation. They shouldn't even depend on the existence of the next life, for there may be none. But if so, one isn't even disappointed if the next life doesn't exist since this life gives them all the happiness they desire. The despair that, Kierkegaard speaks of, needn't exist if he grant the premise that God desires ones happiness in this life, and if he grant the human race the possibility of achieving this happiness, independent of the next and possible nonexistent life. Subjectivism says that it matters more how one believes than it does what or why we do. So if one believes fervently that one can be happy here, what God would impose that such subjectivity is wrong, that one can only be happy independently of this world? Nietzsche’s overman has this courageous independence, but why can't a knight of faith also have it? I think that both Nietzsche and Kierkegaard have valid points. The overman's worship of this world, a world made beautiful by God Himself, is justified. It's courageous to find happiness in a meaningless world. The knight of faith's authentic anticipation of the next is equally justified as long as such faith doesn't interfere with living an authentic life while here on earth. The overman is not inferior to the knight of faith and the knight of faith is not inferior to the overman. They are both authentic, subjective existing individuals, living life the fullest way they know how, both courageous in their own ways. They are both equally superior in courage to all the slave moralists, master moralists and mock Christians of the world. And while I live here on earth, neither the overman nor the knight of faith can discredit the other, since there may or may not be an afterlife. The lacking evidence of an afterlife doesn't suggest there isn't one. Where would be the challenge in believing in something I know to exist? Likewise the very notion of Christianity defying common logic tempts me to doubt the faith it is so hard for me to have.
